June Jobs up 1.1 percent from June 2024

JUNEAU, Alaska — June’s statewide job count was up by 3,700, or 1.1 percent, from June 2024.
Construction added 900 jobs over the year, mostly through North Slope oil and gas and federal infrastructure projects. Those projects also boosted the transportation, warehousing and utilities sector (700) and professional and business services (400). Oil and gas added 600 jobs.
Health care’s strong growth continued, with an increase of 1,300 jobs since last June.
Most industries grew, but leisure and hospitality (-200), wholesale (-100), retail (-100) and information (-100) lost jobs. Financial services and manufacturing employment remained flat.
State government employment was up by 200 over the year, local government added 100 jobs, and federal government lost 100.
Alaska’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.7 percent and the U.S rate dropped slightly to 4.1 percent.
