How inflation or delfation is calculated:
What does $100 in 1980 dollars equal today?
Step 1:
2012 Anchorage CPI divided by 1980 Anchorage CPI	205.9 -------------- 85.5	= 2.41
Step 2:
Multiply 2.41 by any number of 1980 dollars and you will have the 2012 equivalent. (100 x 2.41= $241) So, $241 in 2012 would have the same purchasing power as $100 did in 1980.
