Labor Adopts Occupational Safety And Health Regulation Changes

Jan. 23, 2001
No. 01-32

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development has adopted regulation changes dealing with occupational safety and heath standards to become effective February 15, 2001.

These changes bring the State of Alaska Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) enforcement program into compliance with statutes requiring the department to establish and enforce standards that meet or exceed the federal OSHA standards. The majority of federal OSHA regulations were adopted in 1995; however, certain federal standards that were not included at that time, or have since been amended, are now being included in this regulation change to ensure safer working conditions for all Alaska employees.

Copies of the regulations can be obtained by contacting Lillian Prevette at (907) 465-6006, or by writing to her at Labor Standards and Safety, Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, P.O. Box 111149, Juneau, AK 99811-1149.
