ALASKA WORKERS’ COMP BOARD ADOPTS NEW AMA GUIDE

Fifth Edition Required for All Ratings Done after February 28, 2001

The Alaska Workers’ Compensation Board has adopted the most recent edition of the American Medical Association (AMA) Guide to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment as the basis for rating permanent partial impairment under the Alaska Workers’ Compensation Act.

The AMA published the fifth edition of the AMA Guides in November 2000.

In compliance with Alaska Statute 23.30.190(d), the Board issued a bulletin (00-14) on December 15, 2000, requiring the use of the fifth edition of AMA Guides for all ratings done on or after February 28, 2001.
